Watershed Network

The American River watershed is a vital part of California’s water infrastructure, playing a key role in supporting both environmental and human water needs across the state.

The Watershed Network is a new collaborative under the Watershed Resilience Pilot Program by the Department of Water Resources. This initiative encompasses the American, Bear, and Cosumnes River watersheds and is one of the five pilot projects in California. We are convening local organizations to ensure the new Watershed Resilience Plan reflects the needs and priorities of the communities it serves. Participation in the Watershed Network will empower community-led climate adaptation strategies.

Watershed Network Vision Statement

“Sustainably manage the American, Bear, and Cosumnes River watersheds using a science-based, collaborative, and inclusive approach that incorporates traditional knowledge and balances ecological and economic needs to sustain the long-term resilience of our local communities and ecosystems.”
